Immobilizzati in una piccola gabbia per vent?anni, la durata della loro vita. Due volte al giorno è estratta la bile dalle loro carni per medicinali, bibite e shampoo. Il dolore è così tremendo che cercano di suicidarsi. Per impedirlo gli sono strappati gli artigli e segati i denti. 10.000 Orsi della Luna sono torturati in Cina, in Corea e in Vietnam. Jill ci farà sapere a breve i prodotti che contengono la bile e gli indirizzi dei luoghi delle torture.

Jill Robinson: "Questo povero orso è stato in gabbia per anni e anni.Non sta solo eseguendo un comportamento stereotipico grave, ma lo sta facendo a tale livello che ha rimosso completamente il pelo dal muso e da parte del suo corpo. Anche i suoi cuscinetti sono molto aridi e crepati e ci sono chiari sintomi che indicano che non ha calpestato terreno da anni e anni. E' una disgrazia.
Due cuccioli di orso. Si stanno succhiando le zampe a vicenda, questo è il rumore che farebbero se stessero succhiando latte dalle proprie madri. Il primo orso non sembrava in condizioni troppo brutte, ma siamo preoccupati per alcuni di questi orsi, stanno in gabbie soffocanti, e uno di questi ha un problema ad un occhio.
Fino a quando non li tiriamo fuori non sapremo esattamente la loro condizione. Dall'odore credo che abbiamo qualche problema con le infezioni.Pensiamo siano arrivati in 29, ma fino a quando non li tiriamo giù non lo sapremo.Siamo veramente preoccupati per questo, si lamenta molto la notte come se avesse dei dolori addominali. Vorrebbe mangiare, ma questo gli procura del dolore.E' molto magro ed è anche orbo da un occhio.
Quindi abbiamo un sacco di problemi, anche con questo esemplare.In effetti la sua faccia è orribile. Ha un sacco di ascessi sulle labbra.
Intervistatore: "Pensa che possa farcela?"
Jill Robinson: Non so. Non ho buoni presentimenti. Ma, sa, le cose possono cambiare? assistiamo a miracoli di tanto in tanto. Un animale talmente stoico, che ha sopportato sofferenze e dolori in questa gabbia. Nessun animale sarebbe stato in grado di adattarsi a questo ambiente.Ma, ancora, a volte riescono a farcela. Spesso restiamo positivamente meravigliati.Credo che dopo aver fatto queste cose per così tanto tempo, lo si accetti. Ma non riesco a fare a meno di essere molto, molto preoccupata.

"La ricca Bologna che fu contadina" diventa disoccupata, ma con l' orto di cemento. Gli ortaggi ora li importa. Il bufalo emiliano romagnolo è più sanguigno degli altri della penisola. Quando carica, carica. Il suo è sempre un movimento di massa. Gli piace far le cose insieme agli altri. E fa paura. L'Emilia Romagna è stata la regione più nera d'Italia, poi la più rossa.
Il cambiamento è quasi sempre partito da lì.
Le regioni italiane stanno diventando un mosaico di disoccupati. Nel frattempo l'Italia del Nord è cementificata dagli immobiliaristi che si fanno prestare i soldi dalle banche che si fanno prestare i soldi dal Governo e quindi dai contribuenti.
Lo psico(nano)spacciatore di ottimismo non riesce più a capire la differenza tra fiducia e consumismo. Per lui l'ottimista deve consumare, altrimenti è un sabotatore dell'economia. L'Italia è diventata grande grazie al risparmio dei nostri padri e nonni nel dopoguerra. Vi ricordate la Giornata del Risparmio? E i salvadanai? E il libretto per depositare i soldi per mandare i figli all'Università? Se l'Italia non è ancora fallita del tutto, lo deve ai risparmi che le famiglie sono riuscite a salvare dalle banche, dalle finanziarie, dalle aziende quotate in Borsa.
Chi ti invita a consumare è uno spacciatore di miseria. Di una vita senza qualità.
Un blogger ha scritto: "Dopo l'Onda degli studenti, il maremoto dei disoccupati". Preparate i salvagenti.
Loro non molleranno mai(ma gli conviene?), noi neppure.

In May, we migrated from our old company name and a Windows Server 2003 infrastructure to Windows Server 2008.

About now, we’ve been running on this Infrastructure for 6 months. While configuring back then was very interesting (especially Exchange 2007) and finding vendors which supported their apps under WS08 wasn’t always easy, it worked out.

We’re running McAfee VirusScan Enterprise, which was supported WS08. Unfortunately, the ProtectionPilot Management App was not supported on WS08, which is why it’s running in an WS03 x32 VM. For Backup, we’ve used Symantec BackupExec 12 (since then, upgraded to 12.5).

I’ve been running six productive VMs in Hyper-V since May. The upgrades to the RTM version of Hyper-V ran flawlessly, and we’ve had zero production issues with those VMs. The VMs are a mix of WS03 x32 and WS08 x64.

Except one WS08 Core x32 Domain Controller, all WS08 machines are x64. Even the setting up an x64 print server for x32 clients was less of an issue than i initially thought.

The feature most applauded by our users is probably the TS Gateway.

We currently OCS 2007 in an (unsupported) VM, because we only use the IM functionality right now (the reason that VMs are unsupported is that voice heavily depends on timing, which can be icky in VMs). Our plan is to migrate to OCS 2007 R2 when it comes out, this time running on WS08 on native hardware, so we can start our internal VoIP rollout.

IBM has finally released Director 6.1, which supports running on WS08 x64.

For Active Directory, i run two WS 08 Core DCs, one x64 (on newer hardware) and one x32 (on rather old hardware). We also have an RODC in our branch office. BackupExec has it’s fair share of troubles running on RODCs and so do other apps that depend on SQL Server, like WSUS. So keep this in mind if you want to deploy branch offices - the single server approach worked with DCs, but it won’t with RODCs. Get two machines, one for the RODC, another one for the rest.

For branch office connectivity, we’ve always used DFS-N and DFS-R, which has continued to work flawlessly on WS08.

In our Edge environment, i’ve deployed an Exchange 2007 Edge Server, an OCS 2007 Edge Server and an ISA 2006 server. The latter two are still running on WS03, which i plan to upgrade as soon as it is possible.

I currently only have one unresolved issue, which is NTLM Authentication for Outlook Anywhere. UR4 should have resolved it, but i haven’t gotten around to test this.

As for the clients: We run three quarters Vista, one quarter XP. The XP machines only remain because i don’t have any jurisdiction over them, there are no technical reasons why they shouldn’t get upgraded.

So, after this you will probably assume that i got paid to write this. Well, i do work for a Microsoft Partner, so the Software cost associated with upgrading to WS08 was rather low, as we have Software Assurances for our Volume Licenses and we also get many internal use licenses through the MSPP.

The experience of deploying and running a production system has been a tremendous help for me to get acquainted with WS08 as a platform. I’m currently in the process of deploying my first SBS08 into production, about which i’ll write as soon as that project is done.

Still, i honestly believe that WS08 is ready to deployed. Not anywhere, mind you. Application Support is still an issue, and especially ERP vendors are slow to catch up (not us, though - we supported WS08 TS as platform from the start).

La campagna di inverno sta per iniziare. Il 25 novembre ho incontrato Carnevale in Cassazione. Mi è stato comunicato che le firme raccolte non sono sufficienti. Una cosa l'ho capita. Si dovevano raccogliere almeno due/tre volte le firme valide necessarie per essere sicuri del risultato. Come è avvenuto per la proposta di legge popolare "Parlamento Pulito". La prossima volta ci sarà un solo referendum. Per l'abolizione della legge Gasparri e della telecrazia. Le firme per la legge popolare Parlamento Pulito sono arrivate in Commissione del Senato. Ogni senatore della Commissione sarà chiamato in causa dal blog. Uno per uno. Fino allo sfinimento (il loro). 350.000 cittadini hanno il diritto di vedere la loro legge discussa in Senato. 18 condannati in via definitiva fanno la bella vita in Parlamento. Milioni di italiani onesti perdono il posto, forse proprio perchè sono onesti. Martedi 2 dicembre pubblicherò il simbolo delle Liste Civiche a Cinque Stelle che ho depositato per le amministrative del 2009. L'obiettivo è di avere consiglieri onesti e capaci all'interno dei Comuni. Che possano controllare e informare i cittadini. I consigli comunali sono la nostra Bastiglia. Il fiato sul collo devono averlo anche dall'interno. Dal fiato sul collo al fiato nel collo. La rete sociale delle liste civiche è quasi ultimata, ancora dieci giorni di pazienza... Dalla settimana prossima lancerò le Primarie dei Comuni. Proporrò una serie di punti da commentare per energia, mobilità, scuola, sanità, politiche sociali, ambiente, edilizia, connettività, acqua. Le vostre indicazioni saranno la base del Programma per i Comuni. Un testo di riferimento per le Liste Civiche. L' incontro nazionale con le Liste Civiche e i MeetUp è, salvo cambiamenti, previsto per il 31 gennaio a Firenze. "La porti una lista a Firenze, che l'è la mia città che in cuore ho sempre qui...".
Loro non molleranno mai (ma gli conviene?), noi neppure.

I love my routine on Thanksgiving: get the paper, then plan my Black Friday attack while watching football all the way until Turkey Time. And then: a huge pile of dishes, but that’s kind of irrelevant for this conversation.

Che cosa hanno in comune Madagascar e Corea del Sud ? In apparenza nulla. Il primo è un Paese in via di sviluppo, il secondo è una potenza economica. Uno sta in Africa, l'altro in Asia. I malgasci hanno un territorio incontaminato. Ai coreani manca il terreno coltivabile. Il Madagascar ha 28 abitanti per km2, la Corea del Sud 493 abitanti per km2.
Due Paesi diversi tra loro, ma accomunati oggi dalla Daewoo e dal neocolonialismo senza capitali. Tronchetti e Colaninno hanno fatto scuola anche all'estero.
Un tempo si regalavano collanine e pietre lucenti agli indigeni in cambio di ogni ben di Dio. Oggi neppure quelli.
La Corea del Sud ha bisogno di mais, di olio di palma, di prodotti dell'agricoltura. Il Madagascar ha terra. La Daewoo sigla un accordo con il governo del Madagascar. Cessione di 1,3 milioni di ettari coltivabili per 99 anni. Più della metà della terra coltivabile del Paese (2,5 milioni di ettari).
Il tutto GRATIS. In cambio la Daewoo si impegna ad assumere i malgasci come contadini.

Secondo mister Hong, manager della Daewoo: "E' terra totalmente non sviluppata, incontaminata. E noi daremo lavoro rendendola coltivabile, e questo è buono per il Madagascar."
I prodotti di 1,3 milioni di ettari del Madagascar saranno inviati in Corea del Sud per il suo fabbisogno, è probabile che neppure una pannocchia rimanga ai malgasci.
Il Madagascar fa parte del World Food Programme da cui riceve cibo per 600.000 persone che vivono al limite della sussistenza. Gente alla fame alla quale si aggiungeranno migliaia di piccoli agricoltori con le loro famiglie.

Gli 1,3 milioni di ettari sono in gran parte foreste. Saranno distrutte con pesanti effetti sul clima.Il contadino del Madagascar viene espropriato della terra, il cibo viene inviato all'estero, il suo ambiente viene distrutto. In cambio potrà lavorare per la Daewoo. Che culo!
Chi ha risorse non ha soldi. Chi ha soldi si compra le risorse. Ma cosa sono i soldi? Da dove provengono? Indovinate. Dalle risorse di chi non ha soldi.
L' Africa ha la maggior parte della terra fertile non coltivata del mondo e la maggior parte dei morti di fame. Una ragione ci sarà.

Hi, my name is Kimmo Lahtinen and I was the programming lead for Housemarque on Super Stardust Portable. Super Stardust Portable is the PSP version of our previously released PS3 title Super Stardust HD with some nice additions we think you’ll enjoy. And you’ll be able to enjoy them very soon. Super Stardust Portable will be available for download on the PlayStation Store on Thursday, December 4th for just $9.99!

If there is one word to describe the game, that would be ‘intense’. Your goal in the game is to simply destroy the waves after waves of enemies we throw at you and try to not get killed. If you’re not constantly on the edge of your seat when trying to blow up everything in sight with dozens of asteroids coming at you all the while screen is filled with explosions and fireworks, you should probably apply for a job as an astronaut or something.

When we first got the idea from Sony about doing a PSP version of the game, we were thrilled. We think that Super Stardust is a perfect fit for a portable device, do a 10 minute session of Endless while riding on the bus into school. Pick up and play, it’s like it was designed to be portable from the start. Then it hit us, how are we going to get this thing running on the PSP. Even though the PSP is the most powerful for a hand-held console, it’s still a totally different animal from the processing power of the PS3. We’ve got more than ten thousand objects and hundreds of thousands particles flying around in the PS3 version and we probably use more than 10GHz of processing power from the machine.

What we learned from developing the PS3 version is that sphere level is actually quite a large playing space and requires thousands and thousands of objects rotating around before the game level doesn’t feel empty. It took a lot of trial and error to get that working on the PS3 version. The PSP version is played on a wrapping 2D field that is optimized for the PSP screen. There was a lot of tuning to make it not feel either crowded or too large so we could have the gameplay and levels stay as fast as before. After we found the optimum size, we felt that we had lost nothing of the old intensity in the conversion. In addition we actually do a few tricks to make it look like you’re still playing around a planet too. After a lot of work and because of the choices we made, we managed to get more than a thousand objects on the field with 60 frames per second. That’s a lot of things to shoot. We’ve also got the Super Stardust trademark particle effects working on the PSP, so the explosions look as pretty as ever.

Another change we faced was the controls. The PS3 version uses two analog sticks for control and shooting. How are we going to get that working on the PSP where there’s only one analog stick available? What we decided to go with is to map the shooting to the face buttons and let the game interpolate the shooting direction when needed. This took a lot of effort to get right, but the end result feels perfect. We were glad to find out that even for those that are completely new to PSP system, it didn’t take long to figure out the controls. We also made a new shooting mode to make full use of the buttons. If you tap a shooting direction, the shots will spray around. This also makes for another interesting gameplay choice. More weapon power on one focused point or less in a wide spray? The controls are also configurable, so if someone out there doesn’t like the choices we made, they can remap the controls for their own liking.

Some other new things we have for PSP version:

• A completely new mode: Impact. In impact mode you cannot shoot, just bomb and boost. The boost is a bit different in this mode in that when you boost through something, you receive more boost energy and your multiplier goes up at the same time (max 100x), so the key to high scores is to chain your boosts into as long as you can and to collect points with huge multipliers.
• A new final boss: One complaint on the PS3 version was that the final boss was way too easy. I should warn you that your first meeting with Professor Schaumunds’ new machine of destruction could leave a bit of something in you pants.
• Even more intense gameplay. We still have a casual mode that is suitable for everyone, but one thing we found out about the PS3 version is that for the best players it takes hours and hours to complete the arcade game. For this version we have upped the difficulty curve too after a few of the first difficulty levels. This is a portable game, you shouldn’t have to play a day to get challenged in the game even if you are that good.

Our main goals were to keep the same high intensity gameplay from the PS3 version and do it at a consistent 60 frames per second. We feel that both goals were successfully completed, but I’ll leave the final judgement to you.

Hey, all you racing fans! A month ago, pro drift and rally racer Tanner Foust put out a challenge to find the fastest racer in the US. Thousands answered the call, but only one rode away with the prize, a trip to Formula Drift’s premier event, the Red Bull Drifting World Championship to meet Tanner Foust.

Taking home the glory and fame this time around was Gregory Russell, who posted the best lap time in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue’s online race mode, pushing the Nissan 350Z around the London city track faster than anyone else in the United States. He finished with a lap time of a mere 1’00.711 seconds. Competition was tight, however, with the top times separated by a mere tenth of a second. These are the true, dedicated race fans right here.

As the grand prize winner, Gregory was flown from Maryland out to the Port of Long Beach to attend the Red Bull Drifting World Championship, where the skies were cloudy with smoke from the southern California fires as well as the smoke coming off the tires from 32 of the world’s top drift racers there to compete. Ultimately Tanner, the 2008 US Formula Drift Champion, went on to win 3rd place overall, out of 32 drivers including 17 past and present drifting champions from around the world.

Not only did Gregory get to cheer Tanner on from the VIP section, he also got VIP access to Tanner. On Saturday, during the pre-qualifying open practice session, Gregory rode shotgun in Tanner’s drift car, a Nissan 350Z, for two complete practice laps at full speed. And by full speed, I mean Tanner was hitting the first corner at 100 when he initiated his drift for the long first corner, hugging the wall and powering through all of the turns, leaving plumes of tire smoke in his wake.

On Saturday afternoon, Gregory also got a chance to go head to head with Tanner on board the PlayStation Experience Truck. After Tanner took on the local winners from the race competitions on the truck, Gregory and Tanner put the pedal to the metal as they raced BMW M3s around the demanding London city track course. Tanner ultimately won the race, but Gregory put up a good fight considering who he was going up against. Afterwards, Tanner presented the rest of Gregory’s prize, which included a GT hat, a signed copy of the GT5P (plus MotorStorm: Pacific Rift), and two cool limited edition Gran Turismo jackets (thermal and rain) from Nike. There was only one grand prize winner, but coming in second place in the online contest was Brian Johnston from Georgia, a big fan of Gran Turismo. Brian is a college freshman studying engineering, and has been playing Gran Turismo since Gran Turismo 2 on the original PlayStation. Coming in at 3rd place was Kevin Bruner, a 45-year-old native of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Kevin is also an active member of the Gran Turismo forums, and has been a racing fan since childhood. Kevin owns and has finished all of the Gran Turismo titles to 100% completion with all gold licenses. Both Brian and Kevin will receive a copy of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue signed by Tanner Foust, a signed GT5P poster, and a Gran Turismo T-shirt and hat.

Honorable mentions in the event go to Brett Miller and Tim Bambu. Tim is from Florida and is an aspiring race car driver, attending and teaching at the International Motorsports Academy and competing in various kart series races in Florida. He also plans on majoring in Mechanical Engineering and will be involved in a special university program that builds a race car every year as part of a national competition.

You can catch them all racing online in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, but you’ll need some pretty good luck to actually catch up to them during the races, as they have proven themselves to be some of the fastest players in the US.
